2011 NISSAN MURANO cROSScABRIOLET

2011 NISSAN MURANO CROSSCABRIOLET

For over two years now, we've heard whispers Nissan plan to introduce a convertible version of its Murano crossover, but the idea seemed so far away that we just could not wrap our little gray cells around it. We managed to sleep at night by rejecting the idea as just another silly rumor in the industry to hate, the kind of fodder served by weekly serial British car splash absurd predictions of future products on their covers ( usually accompanied by the work of imaginative artist) to sell more paper in newsstands.

We doubted it, but we should know. Nissan has shown real courage planning events, and an unquenchable desire to meet any white space in the portfolio. Remember, it was Nissan product planners who thought the car is designed exclusively for T-square, roll slightly asymmetrical glass and fake patch of grass on top of the dashboard - just in case anyone thought the box was too boring. The carmaker announced that it has made a big bet brilliant, but funny looking $ 33,000 five-door only able to drive 100 miles before being placed hung up the umbilical cord. E 'followed this with a small, but strangely lovable thing crossovery hatchback space-time wearing a Kabuki mask. In retrospect, we should not question the wisdom of pruning to crown his Nissan crossover mid-sized to create a ragtop - It 's necessary to consider what has taken so long.

According to Webster's, the word means "not conquered, overcome, or subdued." An adjective often used to describe something so overwhelming that it is almost impossible to overturn. Want to know what it feels like invincibility? Strap yourself into the driver's seat 2012 Nissan GT-R, and then press the start button.

Three years after the successful launch of its flagship vehicle performance on our shores, Nissan engineers have introduced a super subtle but totally changed. The engine has more power, the suspension was revised, the wheels are lighter, the seats have been redesigned, the brakes are larger, more rigid chassis and aerodynamics have been redesigned to improve cooling and provide more support. This is not a guarantee of a manufacturer to "refresh mid-cycle" to increase sales, are changes that improve handling and overall performance of the GT-R so significantly that most would be willing to consider cuts a revival of the second generation.

2011 Nissan Leaf Review

At the start of November, the 41 contenders for the 2011 European Car of the Year award were trimmed down to seven finalists. Today, for the first time ever, Europe's most coveted automotive award went to vehicle that that relies upon electrical juice flowing from its lithium-ion battery pack as its sole source of motivation.

That battery-powered vehicle, the Nissan Leaf, marks the automaker's first win since the Micra took home the award way back in 1993. Head juror Hakan Matson proclaims that the Leaf is "a breakthrough for electric cars" and that it "is the first electric vehicle that can match conventional cars in many respects." Nissan chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn accepted the honor and responded with:

This award recognises the pioneering zero-emission Nissan Leaf as competitive to conventional cars in terms of safety, performance, spaciousness and handling. It also reflects Nissan's standing as an innovative and exciting brand with a clear vision of the future of transportation, which we call sustainable mobility.

The Leaf faced strong competition from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Citroën C3/DS3, Dacia Duster, Ford C-Max, Opel/Vauxhall Meriva and Volvo S60/V60. Early predictions by some of the motoring press suggested that the pair of models from Citroën or perhaps even the lone Alfa Romeo vehicle would capture the award, but that's not how the jury of 57 automotive journalists ended up seeing it, and the electric Nissan Leaf grabbed the top spot. Last year, the Volkswagen Polo snatched the Car of the Year title away from second-place finisher, the Toyota iQ. In 2009, the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia just beat out the Ford Fiesta for the honor.

2011 Nissan Leaf

Nissan may have underestimated the demand for its all-electric 2011 Leaf. The company had originally planned to supply its dealers with two demo cars each, but with buyers essentially beating down doors to be among the first to hop behind the wheel, Nissan has decided to cut that number by half in order to free up supplies.

That may mean as many as 1,000 additional Leaf EVs will be in stock when the car goes on sale in December. Nissan USA has only been given a total of 20,000 Leaf vehicles for sale on our shores in 2011, and the company hit that many reservations months ago.

Why so few? The real hang up is having enough batteries to go around. While Nissan is working closely with its supplier in Japan, the company is also building a new battery facility in Smyrna, Tennessee that should help crank out 200,000 battery packs per year when it goes online in 2012. At that point, Nissan says that it should be able to produce somewhere around 150,000 Leaf units per year.

2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Review

Boasting more power, subtle interior and exterior styling tweaks as well as chassis updates and a new "Black Edition" model, the U.S.-spec 2012 Nissan GT-R made its North American Muscle debut today at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

As far as street-cred goes, few cars can equal the Nissan GT-R. So, it's only normal that every new version finds the fans holding their breath, wondering what are those crazy Japanese going to do next. Add more power, that's what.

The 2012 U.S.-spec model squeezes 530 ponies out of the 3.8-liter twin turbo V6, also known as the VR38DETT, and 488 lb-ft (662 Nm) of asphalt shredding torque – all without any heavy modifications. Engineers fiddled a bit with the boost pressure, gave the valve timing a mild makeover and optimized the air mixture ratio. That sounds like half of a Japanese workday. OK, one full day, if we acknowledge the improved aerodynamics as well.

The front fascia was modestly refreshed and now features double rectifier fins, which optimize the airflow around the supercar's nose. The air intakes are bigger, too, and more efficient in cooling the engine and the front brakes.

We don't know yet how these changes are going to affect performance, 'cause Nissan is all too secretive about official figures, but you really don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that this car will be very, very fast, given its history.

Visually , the new LED running lights deserve a mention, accompanied by the plated inner headlight panels, which according to Nissan, enhance the GT-R's presence. In total, six exterior colors are available, including two brand-spanking new: the Deep Blue Pearl and Jet Black.

Inside we find minor appointments in the form of new carbon fiber trim and updated materials.

The 10-spoke 20-inch RAYS alloys represent the finishing touch, featuring a near black finish and some innovative solutions. For instance, the knurling inside the wheels was modified to prevent the tires from slipping around them under heavy acceleration or braking.

As for the "Black Edition", it features some unique treats such as the red-trimmed Recaro seats, a dark headliner plus a different set of new RAYS rims, with a 6-spoke design.

When sales will begin early next year, the starting MSRPs will be $89,950 for the Premium and $95,100 for the Black Edition.

The external dimension of the car is sporty and compact and the interior is generous. Just behind the cargo area, there is long sliding seat to which Nissan calls ‘Disappearing Long Sliding Rear Seat.’ It is like other cars rear seats that fold and slides, but here, due to the slim design, the seats slide back of the front seat, and it effectively disappears.
Nissan Townpad Features

Between the front seats there is the “Puck“, as described by Nissan, a look of squash-ball and with a slit in it. One can hold everything in the Puck, be it drinks, iPods, mobile phones, or anything of similar type. The pucks have more added features. It can be placed in the dashboard and also in the doors.

The car has a dual display screen. The upper part is for displaying battery status, speed and range and the lower part of the screen is for audio and AC displays. More to this, it can easily be synced with iPhone’s calendar and can handle GPS facilities. It’s great. Gone are the days to have cars with cassette players and CD players. Now it is the era of iPod compatible cars. It may be also looked forward that Nissan makes it compatible with other future devices.

At first glance, the outside has a touch of 20′s and 30′s cars. The headlamps at least are similar to that era as it protrudes from the body. However, the shape of the car, as a whole, seems futuristic.

The technology of Nissan Townpad is same as that of Nissan’s Leaf. It emits zero emissions.

Nissan says that the Townpad is made for the entrepreneurs of the world. General Manager of the company says that self employed will be the early adopters of the Townpad.
