The engine is matched to a seven-speed automatic, but it has connected to the machine via a clutch instead of a traditional torque converter. First seen on the Mercedes - Benz SL63 AMG, this arrangement allows for a direct connection between the machine and the gears and the results in the faster Schiebeantwort. As in the SL63, there are multiple settings: C (for "capacity controlled"), Sport, Sport plus, manual mode and racing launch control.
