When General Motors debuted in 2012 with Buick LaCrosse Technology eAssist Los Angeles Auto Show last year, the automaker told us that the new feature fuel economy would quickly spread to many other models in its portfolio. Now, GM has taken the veil on 2012 Buick Regal eAssist equipped, which made its official debut at the Auto Show in Chicago this week.

More importantly, the addition of online eAssist Regal and four 2.4-liter powerplant means the car is now capable of reaching 26 miles per gallon city and 37 mpg on the highway. As LaCrosse, Regal eAssist uses a small 15-power electric motor to assist during acceleration, and when combined with things like regenerative braking and start / stop automatically means increased fuel economy significantly. This is not exactly Ford Fusion Hybrid impressive, but still quite good considering that the standard Regal comes only 19/30 mpg ratings.

Unlike the LaCrosse more eAssist will not be the basis Powertrain Regal 2012. Buick Regal eAssist positioned to be part of a large family, which includes Regal GS Turbo and future. Changes to the specific model based Regal include things like alloy wheels of 17 inches (smaller than the standard 18 inches equipment Regal), a state environmental air conditioning, an Eco gauge on the table edge and an output power flow in the infotainment screen seven inches.

We will see life in 2012 eAssist Regal in Chicago this week, so stay tuned for more information. Meanwhile please follow the jump to read the official press release from GM and see the new Regal electrified for yourself in the high resolution gallery below.
